Business Studies Unit 2

So, with the dust beginning to settle on the furore caused by the mistake on the unit 2 paper, what is the result as far as our students are concerned? In many ways it was the pupils occupying the middle ground that would have had an issue. The very brightest would, I suspect, have realised that the question could not be answered and move on. The least able would have looked at the mathematical nature of the data and moved swiftly on, being none the wiser to the problem. However, the largest cohort in the middle, would have persevered for what might have been some considerable time, thus themselves with less time in which to complete the remaining questions.
The Board's response to this is to strike the question and it's marks from the paper, leaving the paper to be marked out of a total of 77 marks in total. I am not sure that this is the most sensible solution since some of our students may well have provided the formula for calculating profit margin, regardless of whether the numbers worked and they will not receive no reward form doing so.
